Nasir Shakur Flood more famously known as Blupaper Nas, is a Buffalo born hip hop artist
known best for his viral content. Growing up primarily on the eastside of Buffalo, Nas was
always known for his strong and captivating personality in school, with teachers, families, &
friends.
Born to parents Sarah Blandino and Corey Flood on December 11, 1996, Nas is an older
brother to Naseen Flood. Nas has always been described as a multitalented soul, and has
maintained a very close and supportive relationship with his immediate family. Though briefly
pursuing basketball on a college level, Nas ultimately chose music and commerce as his
primary career path.
Inspired by generational wealth and legendary entertainers, Nas released his debut single
“Coronavirus” March of 2020 reaching 25,000 streams in its first 30 days. Namely videographer
Mike Major of Buffalo NY directed the music video to this popular song. The video was taken
well by Nas’s growing fan base which proved to Nas that music was a viable option. This song
gained enough attention and traction to be awarded as “Dance Song Of The Year” by The 716
Music Awards. Following Coronavirus, Nas released another very popular song on Buffalo’s
entertainment forefront, “Casamigos” September 2021. The name alone carried the song to
capture crowds and is still very much a big hit today.
During this short period of time, Nas became known for his viral and controversial content that
has expanded and won over his now 20k fan base. In early 2021, Nas responded to another
viral figure in Buffalo, Thatcher Edward’s Buffalo’s Top 10 Artist List. The response not only
included his thoughts at face value, but Nas actually released a single to match. This shook not
only Nas’s fanbase but the entire city of Buffalo. One of Buffalo’s most popular media
companies Saturday Night Buffalo picked up the story, interviewing Nas about his song and
views resulting in corresponding diss tracks toward Nas and a wave of agreements and
opposing views. Nas was able to maintain his growing status and valued presence in Buffalo’s
entertainment industry for all of 2021.
Deemed one of the most popular and influential artists coming out of Buffalo right now, Nas’s
impact has grown his business in retail clothing which is also very popular in his hometown.
